Announcing Primus for Math: Bringing math tools trapped inside frontier labs to everyone

Autonomous AI agents working to solve frontier math problems is one of the most exciting developments in tech right now, but the tools to actually do this haven't been easily available to everyone. They’ve largely remained trapped behind the closed doors of elite corporate research labs, out of reach for the everyday engineers and researchers who need them. Today, together with 40-year mathematics software pioneer Maplesoft, we're announcing a partnership to break down those walls with Primus for Math, an autonomous AI research scientist built specifically for mathematics and engineering.

Available today to every Primus account at www.lab.cloud, Primus for Math makes frontier mathematical discovery and system modeling universally accessible. It gives any user an autonomous system that takes a high-level problem, independently reads the field's literature, derives the model, runs the simulation, and shows its proven work at every step for the user to understand and build upon. It follows real math research practice, from checking what’s already known and hunting for counterexamples to tracking every lemma until it’s proved, and it works in three modes: written proofs, machine-checked Lean proofs, and computational experiments.

Historically, progress in mathematics and engineering has been constrained to a small number of people in major institutions with access to massive resources and proprietary tools. Primus for Math brings the field's highest computational engines directly to the public. Now, a physicist at a small university can pursue a rigorous mathematics question, an engineer can tackle a problem outside their specialty, and a two-person startup can execute system modeling that once required a major laboratory.

In mathematics and engineering, a result only counts when it can be checked. To meet this standard, we integrated our autonomous research loop directly with Maplesoft's industry-standard Maple engine, which calculates answers exactly.

For engineers: Primus for Math builds and simulates system models in Modelica, the open standard used across automotive, aerospace, and energy systems. Instead of testing a handful of data points, Primus derives the model and sweeps the entire operating envelope, finding closed-form solutions that accelerate production models.

For mathematicians: Primus acts as a true research collaborator. It tests approaches, logs its reasoning (including failed paths), and formally verifies its results. When Primus finds a result it can prove, it writes the proof in Lean for computer verification. Every finding is explicitly labeled by the strength of its evidence: proven and machine-checked, confirmed by exact calculation, or supported by evidence but not yet proven.

Progress in a field shouldn't be limited by who has access to private research labs. With Primus for Math, the limit on progress stops being who holds the tool. It becomes the quality of the ideas.
