Terms of Service

Welcome to Transformer Lab. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Transformer Lab application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Service​

Transformer Lab provides an automated artificial intelligence research platform. The Service allows users to upload datasets and documents, fine-tune AI models, run experiments, and generate automated research drafts, code, and analytical outputs ("Outputs").

2. Academic Integrity and Acceptable Use​

Transformer Lab is designed to assist researchers, not to replace the human peer-review process or academic effort. By using the Service, you strictly agree to the following:

  • No Unedited Submissions: You may not submit unedited, fully AI-generated manuscripts produced by Transformer Lab to any academic journal, conference, or peer-review process.
  • Mandatory Citation: If experiments, data pipelines, or drafted concepts from Transformer Lab contribute to any part of a paper you manually write and submit, you must explicitly credit Transformer Lab in your acknowledgments or methodology section.
  • No Academic Fraud: You may not use the Service to generate school projects, essays, or coursework to satisfy degree requirements without disclosing the use of Transformer Lab.

Violation of these academic integrity rules is grounds for immediate account termination.

3. User Content and Datasets​

  • Your Data: You retain all rights and ownership to the datasets, documents, prompts, and code you upload to the Service ("User Content").
  • License to Process: You grant Transformer Lab a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, and transmit your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and generating your Outputs.
  • Your Responsibilities: You represent and warrant that you have the legal right, including necessary licenses or consents, to upload your User Content. You agree not to upload highly sensitive personal data (e.g., protected health information or classified government data) unless explicitly supported by a separate enterprise agreement.

4. Ownership of Outputs​

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Transformer Lab assigns to you all its right, title, and interest in and to the Outputs generated by your use of the Service. You are solely responsible for how you use, publish, or distribute these Outputs.

5. Third-Party AI and Infrastructure Providers​

The Service utilizes third-party infrastructure and external Large Language Model (LLM) providers (including but not limited to AWS, OpenAI, Anthropic, and OpenRouter) to process data and execute tasks. Your use of Transformer Lab is also subject to the acceptable use policies of these third-party providers. Transformer Lab is not responsible for outages, data loss, or errors originating from these external APIs.

6. Disclaimer: AI Accuracy and Hallucinations​

Use at Your Own Risk: Artificial intelligence and machine learning models are experimental technologies. The Service may generate Outputs that are inaccurate, biased, logically flawed, or fabricated (often called "hallucinations").

  • The Service may generate fake academic citations or misrepresent scientific data.
  • You are solely responsible for manually verifying the accuracy, statistical validity, and safety of all Outputs before relying on them for real-world research, medical, or engineering applications.
  • The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

7. Limitation of Liability​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Transformer Lab, its founders, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, academic standing, or reputation, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims related to the Service exceed the amount you paid to Transformer Lab in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

8. Account Termination​

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, without notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these Terms, excessive resource usage, or violation of our academic integrity policies.

9. Governing Law​

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
